But you’re not quite ready to sign yourself up to 3 or 4 years away from home. You need a ‘taster’ to see if it’s really for you. At the same time, you want to prepare yourself for the TOEFL, IELTS, or SAT exam that you’ll have to pass to enrol. Maybe you even want a guaranteed offer from a university and you’re nervous about the whole application process.

UK education sixth in global ranking


UK education sixth in global ranking

An interesting look at the top 20 countries for education sees Finland top the chart, followed by South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK.

The report suggests that countries who promote the value of education enjoy the best education systems. There is also an emphasis on high-quality teaching.

UAE English Proficiency is ‘Very Low’

According to the Education First English Proficiency Index, 2012, the United Arab Emirates is ranked as ‘very low’ in its English proficiency. The extensive study examined levels of English across several industries and in educational institutes in 54 countries. The UAE was ranked at a scary 49th place; right at the bottom of the table with only Columbia, Panama, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Libya below it. Continue reading
